My name is Igor Gersh, and I am a luthier. I am based in Mayville, NY, from May through October and in Palm Coast, FL, from October through May. My services in Florida are limited to bow maintenance.
For the past 25 years, I have been making, restoring, and repairing string instruments and bows. I specialize in instrument setup, sound adjustment, and bow maintenance.
I studied violin making at the Chicago School of Violin Making and bow making with Michael Vann in Victoria, Canada.
For nearly 20 years, I spent my summers working as a "luthier-in-residence" at the Chautauqua Institution music festival.
I see customers by appointment. My prices are highly competitive, and turnaround time is excellent. There is never a charge for checking out instruments and recommendations.
First-time customers may want to purchase our tube before shipping their bows.
Under no circumstances will we ship a bow back without proper protection. If your bow arrives wrapped in bubble wrap or a cardboard tube, we will ship it back in a proper tube. We will charge you for the tube separately.
Our beautiful tubes are made with furniture-grade PVC and fit 2 bows. Your bow is securely attached to a wooden holder inside the TUBE. The TUBE is then inserted into a corrugated cardboard box. We will replace the cardboard boxes as necessary.
Ship it using any service you like or use our prepaid shipping label. To use our shipping label, your package should not exceed 3lbs with dimensions under 36” by 5” by 5”. We use UPS ground.
When paying for shipping, make sure you ship to the right location.

If your bow requires additional work, such as a new grip, tip, or any other service, we’ll contact you and invoice you separately.
No work is ever done unless it is authorized by customers. The payments are securely processed by STRIPE or SQUARE. If you are interested in restoration work, send us detailed pictures first.
We repair and ship your bow back within 2 days of receiving it, often sooner. We will email you the tracking number as soon as the shipping label is created.
Our insurance covers customers' bows up to $10,000 of appraised value while in our possession. Owner insurance applies while in transit.
